Construction Opens Charnel House after 190 years

Construction workers digging in Brooklyn, NY punched through to an underground cavity. After a worker entered the darkness with flashlight he came crawling back out as fast as he could white as a ghost. When asked he said it was full of human bones. He said as he entered it became clear it was an underground vault used for storing human remains or what is known as a Charnel House.
Police were called and it was determined by clues found in the chamber that some of the bodies dated to at least 190 years ago, possibly even older. Investigation has determined that on the site two centuries ago an orphanage had stood. Its being considered that most likely this was where the orphanage deposited the bodies of children as they passed. Excavations put the body count so far at over 300 all children except 2 adults.

Police said that even though suspects would be long dead its investigating causes of death looking for foul play. Officer Dan Willis of the Brooklyn PD said that “It appears most of the bodies were deposited haphazardly still full clothed.” Preservation of some of the bodies on the underside of the pile are oddly in a high state of preservation.
